Salary: £33,000 to £37,000 per annum
Our client is a world leader in the design and manufacture of high performance materials. These products are provided to high volume international Original Equipment Manufacturers in numerous markets including automotive, engineering and industrial. They are currently seeking a Senior Buyer to join their team and make significant contributions to add to the significant success of the company.
To be responsible for all commercial and operational aspects of procurement for Approved Suppliers of raw material, freight, tooling, and consumables. To deputise for the Commercial Manager in his/her absence with regard to all purchasing issues. Demonstrate and drive value for all parties that would include internal customers, suppliers, and global procurement operations. Implement procurement processes and systems across the business.
-Prepare for and lead in supplier negotiations for all company Approved Suppliers (total c £4m per annum)
-Total responsibility for PPL cost reduction targets for Approved Suppliers (total c £0.1m per annum)
-Act as deputy for the Commercial Manager in his/her absence
-Project management of activities required to deliver procurement strategy.
-Take responsibility for supplier relationship management to develop effective long-term partnerships
-Ensure all SOPs and WI are in place for training and staff development
-Fully conversant in all company e-Procurement tools and systems. Use of these tools as necessary to delivery purchasing strategy.
-Superuser for purchasing business systems
-Involve technical specialists from other functions as required
-Ensure that the companys commercial position is protected and is properly reflected within formal subcontracts and purchase orders
-Procure goods and services from approved sources and look for opportunities to improve the supply base
-Forecast likely levels of demand for products and services
-Support Procurement Manager as necessary in delivery of overall supply chain strategy, including the development of market knowledge and contacts for new products and services
Qualification and Skills
-Degree educated in a business or engineering related subject
-CIPS (Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply) Level 5 Advanced Diploma or prepared to study for qualification
-Strong commercial negotiation skills
-Problem solving, project management and time management
-Planning and Organisation
-Demonstrate an understanding of commercial issues and purchasing techniques
-Communicate effectively at all levels of the business
-Aptitude for learning new techniques, methods and principles
-Ability to work under pressure
-Significant purchasing experience in a B2B setting
-Understanding of best practise purchasing tools & techniques
-Understanding of company purchasing procedures and systems
-Experience of QAD/SAP ERP Systems
-Delivery of service improvements
